After seven years in prison, Kenna Rowan (Maika Monroe) returns home seeking redemption and a chance to meet the daughter she’s never known. From Horror to Romance:
Maika Monroe is widely known for starring in horror movies like It Follows (2014) and Longlegs (2024), earning her a reputation as a modern horror star. In this new film, she steps away from horror films to star in a romantic drama instead. She is joined by Bradley Whitford, who also starred in a famous horror movie (Get Out). It is a fun surprise to see these two horror veterans teaming up in a romantic drama movie.

Colleen Hoover’s Most Personal Project:
Unlike earlier adaptations of her book, Colleen Hoover collaborated with Lauren Levine to create the screenplay for this movie. Although the story takes place in Wyoming, the movie was actually filmed in Calgary and Alberta, Canada. The filmmakers used the same beautiful Rocky Mountain scenery seen in the famous movie Brokeback Mountain. These rugged and beautiful landscapes help show the deep feelings of the story.

Strategic Release Date:
The movie was originally set for release in February, just in time for Valentine’s Day weekend. However, Universal changed the date to March 13th to avoid competing with the new Wuthering Heights adaptation starring Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi. This new date gives Reminders of Him a better chance to be the most popular romance movie of the spring.

2026 is going to be an exciting year for fans of Colleen Hoover. Two of her books are adapted into movies! First, Reminders of Him comes out in March, and later this year, the highly anticipated movie adaptation of her suspenseful novel Verity, featuring Dakota Johnson, Anne Hathaway, and Josh Hartnett, is also expected to hit theaters.
