Led by the power-hungry Napoleon (Seth Rogen), the animals of Manor Farm overthrow their human owner only to see their dream of equality collapse into a high-tech corporate dictatorship. Seen through the eyes of a young piglet named Lucky (Gaten Matarazzo), it is a coming-of-age story as the animals realize how propaganda and greed corrupt the rebellion's original ideals, eventually proving that "some animals are more equal than others."

A 15-Year Passion Project:
Andy Serkis has spent almost 15 years trying to bring George Orwell's Animal Farm to the big screen. Since first announcing the project in 2011, he has navigated a long and difficult road to turn this project into a modern film. The production faced many challenges, moving through various studios and shifting from a performance-capture concept to a fully animated feature. Despite these delays, Serkis’s persistence finally paid off; the movie is now complete and scheduled for a 2026 theatrical release.

Original vs. Andy's Version:
While the main story of animals seizing control of their farm remains the same, the main difference lies in what the two versions are criticizing. George Orwell’s original 1945 book was a dark, serious attack specifically aimed at the Soviet Union and Joseph Stalin, but Andy Serkis’s 2026 movie updates the message to target modern issues like corporate greed, dishonest politicians, and "cronyism."

"Family-Friendly" Tone:
While George Orwell’s original book is a grim warning about power and corruption, Andy Serkis shifts the focus to show how the story’s warnings about corruption and the abuse of power are still incredibly relevant in today’s world. Serkis described his version as a "family-friendly" take that uses humor to make the story’s heavy message more accessible to a new generation.

The "Succession" Connection:
Kieran Culkin voices Squealer, the "minister of propaganda" responsible for twisting the truth to keep the other animals in line. This role is a perfect match for Culkin, as it mirrors his famous performance as Roman Roy in Succession; both characters are fast-talking and witty and use their intelligence and charm to protect a powerful, intimidating leader. By casting Culkin, the movie taps into his proven ability to play characters who are both highly intelligent and morally flexible, making him a perfect fit as a messenger who can easily manipulate the public.

Seth Rogen, The Ultimate Pig:
Seth Rogen has voiced a pig-related character before. Most notably, he provided the voice for Pumbaa, the lovable warthog, in the 2019 photorealistic remake of Disney’s The Lion King and returned for the 2024 prequel, Mufasa: The Lion King. In addition to playing a warthog, he also voiced the character Bebop, a mutant warthog in the 2023 animated film Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem.

Tech-Savvy Tyranny:
In Andy Serkis’s new version of Animal Farm, he introduces tech-savvy tyranny to show how those in power can use digital tools to stay in charge. The modern "tech-savvy" tyrant doesn't need to use physical force if they can simply control the internet, the news, and the data that everyone sees and rewrite the truth right before our eyes.
