The story picks up immediately after the first film with the brutal induction of Spike (Alfie Williams) into the monstrous survivor cult led by Sir Jimmy Crystal (Jack O'Connell) and the isolated, dangerous experiments of Dr. Ian Kelson (Ralph Fiennes), who forms a shocking relationship with an "Alpha" variant of the infected named Samson. The inhumanity of the survivors and the evolution of the infected create an even more terrifying, morally shattered post-apocalyptic world.

28 Years Later The Bone Temple Review:

28 Years Later The Bone Temple is the newest addition to the well-known "Rage Virus" franchise. This marks the second part of a new trilogy and the fourth movie in total. Danny Boyle directed the initial film, but Nia DaCosta now steps in as the director for this installment. Many viewers think that DaCosta's version is significantly more terrifying than the previous, as she cleverly shifts the focus from the infected to the bizarre and deranged nature of the human survivors.

The story picks up immediately after the suspenseful ending of the first film. Spike (Alfie Williams) has been captured by a terrifying cult called the Fingers. The group is under the command of the deranged Sir Lord Jimmy Crystal (Jack O'Connell), a gang leader who styles himself based on icons from 1970s pop culture. The gang travels across the English countryside claiming to do "charity" work, but in reality, they are just performing acts of extreme, ritualistic violence.

While Spike tries to survive and goes along with the gang's deranged rituals, we also see Dr. Ian Kelson (Ralph Fiennes) at his "Bone Temple," a giant monument he built out of the bones of the dead. The heart of the story is the bond between Kelson and Samson (Chi Lewis-Parry), a very large and powerful infected Alpha. Kelson makes a shocking discovery that changes everything we know about the series: he realizes the Rage Virus is a form of aggression psychosis that can actually be treated.

Ralph Fiennes is outstanding and delivers an amazing performance. One of the best parts of the movie is a strange dreamlike scene where he dances to the song "The Number of the Beast" by Iron Maiden. This scene is very weird, but it is also one of the most exciting and memorable moments ever seen in a horror movie.

Jack O’Connell plays the villain Sir Lord Jimmy Crystal; his performance is believable and terrifying at the same time. His behavior is a mixture of a violent gangster and a frightening figure of a deranged cult leader. He and his gang, "The Fingers," bring about the most chilling and brutal scenes in the entire film.

Fans of the original movies will be very excited by the end of the film. Cillian Murphy makes a surprise appearance, playing his famous character, Jim, once again. His return prepares the story for an epic, grand finale in the third and last film.

28 Years Later The Bone Temple is a big, bloody, and well-made sequel. The story changes from surviving the infected to surviving the inhumanity and madness of human nature.
